Waste treatment
As a frequently cheaper alternative to the thermal waste treatment (incineration), the mechanical-biological waste treatment (MBP or MBT) has been developed in Germany and been brought to a high technical level. The team and the co-operation partners of IEC were and are relevantly involved in research, plant design and the optimisation of the MBP and its emission control. This is an important pre-condition to be able to adapt this technique successful to local and international circumstances. The mechanical biological waste treatment creates alternative (substitute) fuels and reduces the leachate and landfill gas production of the small(er) rest, which has to be landfilled, drastically. Even with very simple plants great treatment success can be achieved. Because of the different properties of MBP-output (compared to untreated waste) an adapted landfilling technology is needed. IEC has unique knowledge and experience in this domain.

Landfills and contaminated sites
We possess large experience in all areas of planning / design engineering, bid invitation, construction supervision, project management and authorisation management in the fields of: • investigation and risk calculation of contaminated sites, • design of clean up operations, • landfill covers and liners, • operation concepts for landfills, • leachate and gas collection / treatment, • monitoring and aftercare of landfills and contaminated sites, • Photovoltaic and wind energy plants on landfills.
